A’s office got together and made a team for this years Polar Plunge. We have done it in the past in Alaska and had a lot of fun so he decided to get a team together this year. Although only 5 ‘princesses’ showed up to jump, there was actually one more princess and one prince. on the team.
They were a very popular group. After changing into their costumes, we all waited near the ‘staging area’. Many moms with young children asked the group for a picture with their kids! It was like Disneyland (although I have never been, I can imagine what it is like). Little girls were tugging at their parents and pointing to ‘Queen Elsa’, some dad made his son stand next to ‘Princess Lea’ to snap a picture – even though A wasn’t even paying attention. It was kind of crazy. I hope they will an award for best group costume. That would be awesome! Next year it will be hard to top.
Overall, the team raised close to $785, a little shy of the $1000 goal set. I do give them credit though – most of the time that would have been spent getting the word out, advertising for the team and raising money was instead spent working long hours and prepping for a big inspection (which they passed).
A big THANK YOU to all how donated money in support of the Special Olympics Colorado. Hopefully – if I can find the right thing – you will be getting a little something in the mail to remember the team by.
