I’m Caitlin, a 20-something, military wife and aspiring blogger. A and I currently reside in Colorado Springs but we have lived in Anchorage Alaska as well. We loved Alaska and hope too go back someday. We both grew up in New England and are New Englanders at heart. We don’t have any human children as of yet but our two cats, Chip & Zoey and our border collie/australian shepherd mix, Po, are our babies.
I studied biology, environmental studies and intercultural relations at a small college in a small town of Western New York before entering a Master of Science in Environmental Education program at Southern Connecticut State University the fall following graduation. It was in Connecticut that I had the opportunity to live with my grandparents – and through a lot of hard work and many disappointments – eventually led to an environmental educator job in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts and an engagement!
A and I met at a college group through a church he and I attended sporadically (since I was still living in CT at the time). He left for basic training in March of 2010 and we decided not to date until after he graduated. I visited him in Mississippi technical school a few times that summer as I finished up classes and went to work in the Berkshires. He proposed in September and two weeks later left for his first duty station in Anchorage Alaska. We married in February of 2011, lived in Alaska for 3 years before moving to Colorado Springs.
A is an avid runner/marathoner and is currently recovering from major surgery. This past year I trained for my first half marathon but unfortunately scratched the race due to an injury – of which I am still nurturing. I am using this year for strength building and stretching and I hope to begin training again in the late fall/early winter. I’ve been practicing yoga on and off for about 3 years now.
My favorite wines are Moscato, Sweet Red and Sangria. I always have a hankering for dark chocolate. I make my own coffee at home 6 days a week and save Friday mornings for my Starbucks run. I enjoy making cards, sending & receiving letters, scrapbooking and I don’t really know what I want to do with my life. I am still trying to figure this out.
I blogged a little in college, let it slide to the back burner for a few years before picking it back up again after I married. I hope to use this little blog to chronicle our adventures here and to achieve my intention for this year – to live life more fully, more intentionally, and to inspire others to do the same.
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoy your time here!
